Why is it important to have a website?
Every business should consider having a website. Let’s look at the reasons:
- You can let people know more about your business
Time ago, when you needed a service or a product, you would rely on your knowledge of what’s available. Maybe you would search in the Yellow Pages. Sometimes you would ask a family member or a friend for recommendations. But in today’s world people are increasingly using the Internet to find and get information about businesses.
- It gives you a chance to stand out
A website helps you to tell your customers what your business does and what differentiates you from the competition. It’s your business card in the internet world. If you don’t have an online presence, new customers will tend to prefer your competitors that have the presence.
- It’s free advertisement
A carefully built website brings new customers directly to you, at no extra cost. You don’t have to pay to be included in search engines. Search engines will find you if you are online. And that doesn’t cost anything.
- It connects you with your customers
On a website, people usually look for information about your products and services, for a phone number or for directions. But that’s not all. They can also find the information they need to reach you via e-mail if they have questions or suggestions. By having a newsletter you can keep your existing customers involved with discounts or promotions, sent electronically at no cost. Combine that with social media websites like Facebook and Twitter: not only you keep in touch with your customers, but your customers will start promoting and recommending your business to their friends!
- It’s a must-have for all businesses
There’s this false belief that websites are only for large national companies or corporations, with big audiences, but the reality is that websites are beneficial for all businesses, especially the small ones.
If in today's age you don't have a website there is a good portion of the market that will not even consider you as an option when they are looking to buy. I know personally if I am dealing with a supplier I am looking to purchase from and they don't even have a website I pretty much write them off as an option to buy from and my view of that company is diminished to that it is a company that is very poorly managed. With this viewpoint why would I want to purchase from a company like this? Based on my experience most people think similar to myself. There are some people that do not hold this same thought but I would guess that probably 80% of people have bad opinions of companies that don't have websites.
- Opportunities Abroad
By getting a website it makes it possible for anyone in the world to find your business. If you have a product that can be easily sold online you can dramatically increase your customer base by selling online, or maybe you can't sell your services online but by having a website you can gain customers that are outside the geographic reach or your marketing efforts.
